The 6.0L Ford Power Stroke was introduced in mid-2003 and continued through 2007, produced by International. The 6.0L phased out the popular 7.3L in North America due to the stricter emission regulations set by the EPA, though the 7.3L still stayed dominant in international/overseas markets. The 03-07 Ford 6.0L is much more advanced than previous models for fueling, performance, and tuning. Though being more advanced, the 6.0L ran into its own slew of problems. It is common to have head gasket failure, Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) failure, Injection Control Pressure (ICP) and Injection Pressure Regulator (ICP) sensor failure, and clogged or cracked EGR cooler. All these issues can be updated and fixed with aftermarket parts to make the 6.0L reliable. The 03-07 Ford 6.0L Power stroke had the option of the ZF S6-650 6-speed manual transmission or the super reliable 5R110W 5-speed transmission. Even though the 6.0L has its flaws, it can be upgraded to be a solid reliable motor that can make decent power.
