2015-2016 FORD 6.7L POWERSTROKE

The 6.7L Power Stroke was introduced in 2011 and continued through 2016. This was called the “Scorpion” motor during the developmental stage and later adopted the Power Stoke name. The 6.7L motor is Ford’s first motor, designed, engineered, and produced in-house mainly for profitability reason and to maintain a competitive edge in the diesel market. Rumors in the garage say the relationship between Ford and International went downhill with a quickness because of uncountable warranty issues with the 6.0L motor issues, which made Ford push to bring everything in-house for better quality control and in the long run, better customer service. The 6.7L continued to step up its game with the new emission standards and continued to run a catalytic converter, Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), and an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System, but added a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), Selective Catalytic reduction (SCR) filter, and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), into the exhaust system. The amount of exhaust after-treatment in these 6.7’s is wild. Also on the 6.7L Ford Power Stroke platform, a new style of turbo was added, the Garret GT32 DualBoost Variable Geometry Single sequential turbo which basically has two compressor housing with a single exhaust housing. The Injection system was updated with a Bosch CP4.2 high-pressure injection pump, capable of 30,000psi feeding into Piezo injectors. All these recent updates were to move forward in the overall performance diesel market along with keeping up will all the emission requirements and regulations imposed on these light duty diesel pickups.
